I'm currently trying out the 2003 Exocet Turbo Formula 100 in a lot of different conditions before I might buy this board.
After two days of surfing I've already noticed, the hyperbola tail really works on the reach and going downwind, in these directions the board goes a lot faster than my current Bic FW 1.4 But I'm experiencing some difficulties in pointing upwind when the wind is between 7-10 knots, getting the board planing early isn't that hard but getting the board point upwind instead of loosing ground is a lot harder  Does someone know any setup-tips to experiment with to get the board point higher upwind in these conditions? I've been using a NitroIII 12.5, positioned at 141cm in the masttrack and a Select R03 DC wide 70cm. Footstraps we're at the same positions Patrice Belbeoch wrote down at the exocet website. Is it me, is it the setup I used or is it the small tail of the TF 100 (compared to the Bic FW 1.4)? When the wind picked up to 14 knots the board rides like a rocket and goes really fast. |

Hi "Invité",
you may have more luck by posting your question on www.gaastra.com; i know of at least one fw racer (koen b-12) who raced on that board this season - he regularly visits the gaastra forum good luck c ps: it just might also be that you just 'hit' the weak spot of that board (i.e. upwind angle in the lowest wind)... your question indeed reminds me of the so-called 'up-wind kit' Exocet marketed in the course of 2003 for its turbo slalom boards and which consisted of a (carbon?expoxy?) plate to fix under the board in order to cover the hyperbola cut-outs... |

The guest, was actually me. But my login-session expired during the writing of the message and the topic got posted under a guest login.
I tried this forum, 'cause it's french and I've heard there a lot of exocet riders living in france. I've heard about the upwind kit too but as far as I know it's only available for the hyperbola slalom boards. The lowest winds are, kind of, my personal specialty. Those are the conditions I know I could be able (when I don't make any mistakes) to outperform some of the best racers of my country. When, I have the right equipment that enables me to reach this goal  If it's a weak spot, than I know enough, but if it ain't a weak spot I'd like to find out what the best settings would be to get the best results out of the Exocet TF 100. Maybe someone would/could help me? |

Hi RJ (or Bubba  )
you're right, there probably are a lot more Exocet riders in France than, let's say, in Holland  - problem is not many FW (Exocet) racers come to this forum... other French forums where you may have more luck are: http://forum.team-formula.com/ http://windsurfing33.levillage.org/forum suc6 c |

Thanks for the links, I'll try to post my questions over there. But if there's someone in the meantime overhere that might know some things to try out, don't hesitate to answer  |

Hi RJ
Currently I'm the only Exocet FW rider in Holland
how come you 'ditched' your bic? in your favorite conditions (lowest wind) i thought it was still competitive? c |

I haven't ditched my Bic yet, but the dutch importer offered me his showmodel tf 100 to test it for a month and when I'm satisfied with the board afterwards I have the option to buy it.
I'm looking for a new board for next season, that's as good in the low-wind conditions as my Bic but on the other side goes a lot faster downwind when the wind picks up to 20 knots or so. We have a couple of small events coming up this month before the racing season ends, so I took the offer to try the board in competition. Maybe I'll try to make some hours on the Fanatic T2 or F2 FX100 too. |
