Product Design Specialist - Waterwear Apparel 8)

<br>We are looking for an experienced freelance apparel designer to drive the design and development of an innovative line of technical apparel suitable for use in a variety of high-performance marine activities.
<br>
<br>On a seasonal contract (<span style='color:red'>rahhh</span>) basis you'll manage and execute the product development process from design through to production and work closely with our Waterwear Division Manager to ensure product manufacturing follows the concepts set forth by our Brand Management and Brand Styling teams.
<br>
<br>You'll participate in the prototype review process, analyze manufacturing capabilities and provide problem resolution for manufacturing, development, pricing and commercial issues.
<br>
<br>You will also manage the costing process and negotiate price quotes from factories. In addition, you'll assist the NeilPryde Waterwear Manager in setting and meeting budgetary goals.
<br>
<br>Requirements for the position include:
<br>
<br>• 5 years' garment or apparel industry experience, including 2 years' apparel development, manufacturing/sourcing and costing experience
<br>• Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of apparel and accessories construction, costing, fabrics, embellishments and pattern making
<br>• Understanding of design and development processes from inception through production
<br>• Basic understanding of grading and marker making
<br>• Able to work in a fast paced environment successfully under tight lines and heavy workloads
<br>• Flexible, assertive, self motivated and detail oriented
<br>• Basic understanding of merchandising, presentation displays, color, silhouettes and apparel styles
<br>• Experience with spreadsheets, database systems and word processing applications
<br>• Knowledge of Asian manufacturing processes
<br>• Sensitive to differing cultures, customs and business practices
<br>• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to influence, motivate and encourage people
<br>• Must be willing to make frequent and extended trips into China to follow through on production issues during active project timetable
